I cannot count on a three-year period at Man Utd - Amorim

Manchester United head coach

The Manchester United coach - here being consoled after May's Europa League final defeat - says he is pleased by Sir Jim Ratcliffe's long-term backing but underscored that the future is unpredictable in soccer.

The Red Devils' boss Amorim thinks it is important the investor went public with his long-term thoughts - but states nothing is guaranteed about the future in the sport, much less three full years.

In an interview with The Times recently, Ratcliffe said it could take the head coach a three-year period to make a significant impact at the Theatre of Dreams.

Arriving during a time when the manager's position has been receiving close inspection after a prolonged run of disappointing results, the statements assisted in calming some of the immediate pressure.

Yet, discussing prior to the centenary clash with old rivals Liverpool at Anfield, Amorim emphasized how the future is hard to predict in soccer.

"It is really good to hear it but he communicates to me constantly, occasionally through communication following matches - but you know, I know and Ratcliffe understands, that soccer doesn't work that way," he stated.

"The vital factor is the following fixture. Regardless of investors, you cannot manage tomorrow in soccer."

CEO Berrada has admitted it has taken far longer for the manager to adjust to the top division following his move from his former club during the winter than any person expected.

United have won 10 successes in 34 top-flight fixtures during Amorim's tenure. They still haven't achieved consecutive league victories and have not ended a round of league games this season higher than ninth.

The dire statistics are challenging confidence in the manager among the Red Devils supporters entering a sequence of matches their team has struggled during for the previous two campaigns.

The manager stated he doesn't sense the instability inside the club at the club's Carrington training ground and is insistent nothing compares to the expectation he applies to his players - and in some senses, he would choose Ratcliffe not to be trying to bring a sense of calm because he is concerned about the impact it could have on the team.

"It isn't merely a thing that people talk about, I experience it every day," he remarked. "It's certainly beneficial to hear it because it benefits our followers to understand the leadership realize it needs some time.

"But at the same moment, I'm not fond of it because it gives a feeling that we possess time to work things out. I don't wish for that sense in our club.

"The expectation I place on the squad or to myself is significantly greater [than that from outside]. In the sport, specifically at large organizations, you need to prove your worth each weekend."
